About the Event

Hands-on learning + first-hand Kata experiences

Getting Started and Sharing Expertise

Kata is a Continuous Improvement (Lean) Methodology to develop everyday habits, skills sets, and capabilities in people, aligned with and in support of achieving the long-term objectives of the organization.

The book Toyota Kata by Mike Rother was published in 2009 and marked the beginning of a different way of thinking about and deploying Lean.

Today many organizations have made a practice of the Improvement and Coaching Kata as part of daily work. This helps companies develop the capability of their people while simultaneously achieving challenging goals.

  • How do we keep improvement going?
  • How do we align our organization so that daily improvements move us toward strategic goals?
  • How can we work to develop solutions scientifically, instead of trying to implement preconceived solutions?
