Did you know there’s a right and wrong way to fold a towel?
I started doing our laundry about 2 years ago. This week as I hurriedly folded the towels, I kept having to redo it because I couldn’t get the edges to line up. I got frustrated and just put them away ‘as is’ in the closet.
Keep in mind that I was trained years ago on how to properly fold a towel by my mom (thanks Rita for that life skill!). However, once you’re married there’s a chance that your spouse may have different expectations. I’ve been trained on the new improved method of folding towels that’s required at my house. I’ve had sporadic corrective training on how to complete this task as well.
This reminded me of how being trained on a new skill doesn’t mean you are now an expert or even knowledgeable enough to use it. If you don’t use the learned skill, it fades away. This is why our approach to training is to use teach using skills on real problems during training to reinforce competency in the learned skill.
